Tory Burch Inspired

We bought our home a little over a year and a half ago.
And there are some rooms that I have just put a mix of decor in
because I just can't seem to find a place for it
or I don't know what I want to do with it yet.

When people say you never really finish your home..
Boy, they are so right!
It has taken me forever to figure out
what I wanted to do with my dining room.

When I saw these pictures of one of the many fabulous Tory Burch Boutiques..
I knew yet again that TB is an utter genius and that I had to have it!

The Inspiration:

I started off wanting to re-paint the dining room
but we had just done it a few months ago.
And the green was a little too much for such a small space
so we kept what we have & I am pretty thrilled.

Hope y'all are having a great week!

Masters

Over the past two weekend, I have been busily decorating our master bedroom.
4 Target trips later..
It is ALMOST finished. Thank goodness.
The only thing left to add is the mantle for above the bed.
We purchased it a while ago, before Mr. Army Man left, and never had the chance to refinish it.

And here are some pictures from our room.
Dresser: Kirkland's (from a while back)

And another shot of the bed.

Windows..

Bridal picture.. & bathroom
(yes, we have a closet, it's inside the bathroom)

I am so in love with my room.. I never want to leave (and my husband isn't even here)!! Hah!

Make sure you sign up for my give away!

Good News & New Buys

Okay, so I'm just going to jump right in..
I got a ticket in early February for driving way to fast.
Like 80 in a 55 fast.
And since this is a blog about mine and the hubby's life.
I thought I'd share.
Anyways,
I had court today.
Good news is..
I have to go to driving school & get my driving records and then re-appear in court.
NO BIG DEAL.

On the plus side.
I thought I was going to have to pay $300 for it and actually only have to pay $50 for driving school.
And it was already in the budget.

Meaning...
I went shopping.
House shopping.

I got this beautiful lamp for our living room at an antique store in Pittsboro called Reclamation Home Furnishings.
We have been looking for a lamp for about 6 months and finally found one that is perfect.
We are now finished with our living room! Yay!
Also at Reclamation I found 6 mini loaf pans for $3.

Also spent $4 on those colored flowers at Lowe's.
Adds so much to this simple mixed pot.

I got the two ferns for $7.50.
And of course I decorated for Easter.
Love my flag & my Dolla Store egg tree.

I also got some CAMO eggs. Mr. Army Man approved.

While I was out and about I had to get a snack.
Carrot cake with cream cheese frosting.
Pretty fitting for Easter right?
Except I came home and added some toasted coconut and gum eggs. Yum-O!

Hope everyone has a great day and a GOOD Friday!

A Little DIY for Your Day

Sorry, I've been MIA for a while. What with finals and spring break this week everything has been so hectic. But I have a lot to catch up on and post about. First off check out my little DIY project I found on Pinterest. Found all of these at the Dollar Tree. Where every thing's a dolla. Duh!

You'll need:
2 plates (one saucer, one dinner plate)
1 small clear candle stick
Hot glue

Pretty nifty, right?
You can put so much on this little tiered plate. Food or bathroom essentials.
Now go be a copycat, I promise I won't be upset! ;)

Guest Room

Swirl mirror- $10 @ Family Dollar
Lamp- $10 @ Family Dollar
Sheets/pillows- Walmart
Quilt- $39 @ Target originally $79 but can get it here for $29.98..

Doesn't it look great! We got a bed a few weeks before Mr. Army Man's parents came to visit. I found a picture off Pinterest that I really liked and used for inspiration.
We got the bed rails at a flea market for $25. We had originally thought they were for a queen bed but everything worked out and my in-laws brought us for our queen bed when they came.
Love our built in book case

Vases- $1 each at local flower shop

I would still like to add a few pictures/accent pieces to tie the whole room together? What do you think would be good to use?
I feel so good that the guest room is finally almost put together. Now who is up to come visit??
Hope someone does soon, so ready to put this beautiful room to good use!

Monday, Monday!

Mr. Army Man & I were both off today. He had a four day weekend. I am normally off on Monday & Tuesday's so this is no big deal to me. The Art Institute is observing President's Day on Friday this year. Can't wait.. My Friday class is so boooorrrinnngggg.. Foreign speaking man.. blah blah blah. I teach myself. Yeah. Anywhoo.. Mr. Army Man is off Friday too. So we have lots planned.

Let's rewind:
We both have gotten a lot done today. Mr. Army Man straightened up the shed to make it accessible to me while he is away. (He leaves just a few short days away..) He mowed our yard, packed and organized our laundry room (he moved the washer/dryer and swept, & organized the shelves). He's amazing.

I did homework, ran to Wal-Mart, helped the hubby make dinner, and started some Pinterest projects.
I got these cute candles and place mats for our kitchen table. It needed some spicing up! Normally you wouldn't be able to see the bottom of the table. It is always piled with junk: mail, keys, spare change. You get the picture. It looks great now. Let's hope it stays that way! And it only cost me $2 per place mat & $10 for all the candles. :)

I also got a new rug for in front of our sink..For a whooping $5.00!

And a new 'decorative' dish rag. (I know the hubby will wipe his hands on it soon..Ugh men!)

And I did this little basket from which I saw the idea on Pinterest! I'm not quite done with mine yet but this is the start.

It has a small cookie sheet in bottom so clean up is easy
One from Pinterest.
This is mine.
I also made some of Harry Potter's Butter Beer. You can find the recipe here.
Mr. Army man didn't like his much but I thought it was delicious!

Hope everyone has had a great President's Day!

Backyard Update

This week Mr. Army Man and I have been working hard on getting our backyard back to it's original glory. The dogs and the weather have destroyed it.
I went earlier in the week to Lowe's and bought a shii ton of yard stuff. Flower boxes, weed killer, rocks, plants, a purple hoe, & soil.
Flower beds-before..
After
After
After. I love my garden sign.
After
My sweet hubby also fixed our walk way from our front yard to the back deck. It looks amazing.

Yea, it looks a mess right? Our dogs pull up the rubber border that kept all the rocks in place and began to pull up the black liner that was below the rocks. The rocks then began to be wash away from the rain. Result=a complete mess.

Hubby working on the walk way..

The miraculous end.

Doesn't it look 100 percent better? Next weekend I will begin planting my garden. Tomatoes, lettuce, okra, green onions, & some herbs. I cannot wait.

I also planted some flowers in our pink toilet. Yes, we have a pink toilet in our backyard. And in a flower box I have hanging off the back porch. I still have a few more flowers to plant and an arbour to put up. Mr. Army Man came home with a cute hanging basket full of pansies. I don't like cut flowers, like women get for Valentine's day because it's ruining something beautiful and your just killing them anyway. So he bought me some pansies. He's amazing! I'll post more as we do some more updates to our backyard.

Half Bath

A couple of months ago, we kept getting complaints from our neighbors about our two labs getting out of our yard and into their trash, yards, and whatever else that was left out and accessible to them. We had two biches not so nice neighbors come to our door. One called the sheriff canine unit on us. Great. Our new neighbors don't like us...

We got a pen they dug.. chewed.. escaped. Lord! Help us? So we put them in our downstairs bathroom. We've done it before on those REALLY hot summer days. No biggy right?.... Wrong! I came home to a pool in my floor. Standing water and inch or so deep. I open the bathroom door to wet dogs, huge holes in my wall, busted pipe under the toilet, my door/frame scratched up, and my door handle chewed up. And of course dog hair everywhere.

Needless to say here comes the Facebook posts/texts to everyone asking if they want two labs (together or separate) we've got to get rid of them. Mind you.. We have a fully fenced in yard. They were con-artist. UGH! So we got rid of one.. The male who was the chewer, antagonist, and the "Don" of the dogs. Like they say, " if you run with the dogs, you'll act like a dog.." So.. That leaves us with the gorgeous yellow female, Libby. Mr. Army Man said I had to keep one for protection while he is on his extended "business trip."

So anyway.. This leads us to today.. Fixing the half bath downstairs.

Before

With mud

After (3 coats of paint later)

Tomorrow I will be going to get some white paint for the baseboard.. They look terrible. But I am so happy that we can finally use our downstairs bathroom some three months later. Let's just say I am lah-azy! Now gearing up for my first week back to school! I can't wait.. I'm sure I'll be posting lost of luscious recipes.. All sweets. I can't wait for my first day of baking and pastry! Luh y'all!
