Fab Favorites

Fab Favorites

Happy Friday!
Linking up today with Lauren from Style Elixer for  Friday's Fab Favorites.
While my favorites may not be so fab, these duds are making me absolutely giddy right now.

I just bought my baby shower dress & I am already picking out ways to style it
with some cute booties & Kendra Scott earrings. I cannot wait!

Butter London has been my favorite nail polish for quite some time,
when I saw it today in Navy, I knew it was coming home with momma.

And of course, no post these days would go without some kind of pregnancy craving including the scrumptious doughnut & a little something for my sweet baby boy!

Hope you have a fab Friday & enjoy your weekend!

Daddy Comes to Visit

My sweet daddy came to visit this weekend!

Friday night, I decided to make him a homemade chicken pot pie
& some pumpkin white chocolate chip brownies.
{Check back for the brownie recipe later this week.}

Saturday, the hubs & I took my dad to our favorite hole in the wall breakfast spot.
& after my dad took me to Raleigh to get some maternity clothes.

We spend the rest of the afternoon and the movies watching, The Family.

That night we caught up on some football & then headed out for margaritas & Mexican.
{Of course I only had water...}

Sunday morning, my dad left early but I will see him next Saturday morning,
as I head back to Memphis to visit my family.

Hope y'all had a great weekend!

Doodle's Mom

Are you a follower of What2Wear Blog?
After several months of following Brooke,
and reading her blog religiously, I knew I had to meet her.
She is absolutely the cutest thing!

Tuesday, I met with her at Nordstorm's Cafe Bistro for lunch.
It was like we have known each other forever..
We immediately started talking about school (she also went to the Art Institute),
family, life, and of course, blogging & shopping (our two favorite things, besides food.)

After eating & chatting for a while, we walked around the mall & window shopped.
We had the best time and decided to make it a bi-monthly thing.
Lunch & some much needed girl time.
So glad we finally got together & that I found a sweet blogger friend.

Make sure you go follow Brooke's blog.
She is always dressed the cutest!
Seriously, run don't walk..

Of course I found something for baseball season that I just need.
#youwillbemine

{PS}
Lots of exciting announcements on the blog next week!
(No, I'm not pregnant!)

Emerald: Color of the Year

Earlier in the year, everyone was raving about Pantone's Color of the Year..
Emerald.
And it's still quite a hit.
You see it every where.
It's lush, energizing, radiant.
It provides a sense of well-balanced harmony and elegance.

And to be honest, for a while I wasn't too keen on it.
I kept thinking, why isn't turquoise or mint the color of the year?

I've recently acquired quite a few things in Emerald.
And to say I'm smitten is quite an understatement..

Untitled #15

So glad I hopped on the bandwagon.
You will definitely be seeing some elegant emerald days in my future.
Hope y'all have a good week!

#chrestfest

This past Thursday I headed up to Gatlinburg, Tennessee to visit my family.
(The hubs had to work..)
My parents rented a cabin. We had such a great time catching up.

Of course no weekend getaway is complete without a little relaxation..

Or shopping.. #duh

On Friday morning we hit up the Tanger Outlet,
where I racked up on some JCrew Factory necessities.
Then Bass Pro & finally ended the day sight seeing, riding the Sky Lift,
& eating pizza as well as birthday cake.
(My brother celebrated his 25th birthday!)

Saturday, we got up early and visited the Ole Smoky Mountain Distillery.
It was so neat to see how moonshine is made!

We ate a little lunch at Crawdaddy's.
The have the best food.
Wish I would have taken a picture of the carrot cake.
#phenomenal

Lobster Bisque
The Chrestman girls rode the Sky Lift again..
A must if you ever go to Gatlinburg!

And then I said goodbye. I hadn't seen Mr. Army Man in a week.
And we needed to catch up!

The views on the way home were absolutely breathtaking.
It was so glad to see the whole fam damily, since I haven't since Christmas!
Love them & our especially making more memories.

The Easter Two

This past weekend was huge for me.

***
Mr. Army Man got some time off from work.
We got our income tax money in.
Lent was over. My chip obsession continues.
And today, I can finally shop again.

We started out Good Friday at our favorite local breakfast spot The Landmark Cafe.
It's so good that it only serves breakfast, frequented by locals only.
And is usually so packed you can't walk in the door. Literally.
The two of us both got ham biscuits. #thebest

We, then, headed up to Raleigh for Adventure Landing.
Where we played two rounds of putt-putt, laser tag, and go carts.
Where I got two hole in one's!

We headed to Trader Joe's, where we bought two jars of cookie butter!
And then to the mall. The hubs wanted me to scope out what I would need for Spring.
I managed to leave intact without buying anything. He bought a meat grinder for our stand mixer.
Which we've already made fresh sausage with.

Before heading home, he we stopped by one of my favorite local boutiques.
Mr. Army Man wouldn't let me go in. #easterbasketnecessities

We then went to dinner at our favorite Mexican restaurant.
I only managed to take a few pictures. Who cares I was enjoying the day.

Saturday was busy with errands.
Trip to Lowe's, grocery shopping, yard work, planting spring flowers, etc.

Sunday, we enjoyed an amazing early Easter breakfast with our church family.
The church had a flower cross ceremony and plus our regular church service.
It was so beautiful.

We headed home where I proceeded to nap and Mr. Army Man crossed watching basketball off his to do list. And later we made dinner.

Mr. Army Man completely surprised me with two amazing Easter presents!

Hope y'all had a Happy Easter Weekend & were bless through and through!

Shopping: A Deeper Meaning

Most of y'all know I am on a no shopping period right now..
And to be honest I am sorta enjoying it.

I don't have to go out & buy the hottest new thing
because J.Simps is carrying it.
I feel so much better about not spending money
& I know that we are saving everyday.

Right now I am in a marketing class and
I feel like I should help breakdown the difference between
internal influence and external influence.

Internal Influence:
-Needs
-Personality
-Self Image
-Motives/Desires
-Security

External Influence:
-Household
-Social Status
-Culture
-Want

I think we all need to keep in mind that
just because someone else has is,
doesn't mean that we need it as well.

Some key things I like to keep in mind now are:
Is it another's influence that is making me want to get it?
Am I really going to use it?
Will it go out of style soon?
Do I just want it because I saw so-in-so with it?
Is it something I'm going to want to keep for the rest of my life?

These things help me stay under control and not shop,
even when I see something that is totally TO DIE FOR!

And let's be honest, if someone (like me)
who used to shop 4/7 days a week,
then you can probably go without it for a little while too!

And in the long run your wallet, husband and self control will probably thank you!
If not, you can always have a sweet reward at the end like I do.

Only..

Now who wants to go shopping with me
when this is all over? :)
