Emerald: Color of the Year

Earlier in the year, everyone was raving about Pantone's Color of the Year..
Emerald.
And it's still quite a hit.
You see it every where.
It's lush, energizing, radiant.
It provides a sense of well-balanced harmony and elegance.

And to be honest, for a while I wasn't too keen on it.
I kept thinking, why isn't turquoise or mint the color of the year?

I've recently acquired quite a few things in Emerald.
And to say I'm smitten is quite an understatement..

Untitled #15

So glad I hopped on the bandwagon.
You will definitely be seeing some elegant emerald days in my future.
Hope y'all have a good week!

Why I Blog..

In the beginning..
I started this blog as a way to share my newlywed army life
with my friends and family back home in Arkansas.
I blogged to share our lives with others and to document our memories.

Now it has become so much more..
I blog to grow relationships with such strong creative women.
I blog to inspire y'all with beauty, fashion & food.
I blog as a creative outlet.
And I STILL blog to share our memories made.

I love blogging and this community.
Some days I don't want to blog, sometimes I don't know what to say..
But every time I submit a post, it makes me so happy to know that other women (and men?)
are going through some of the same things and I find solace and strength in that.

I am so happy I joined this blogging community.
I hope some of y'all will link up with the beautiful
Leslie over at A Blonde Ambition and share why you blog..

Pharmacy Favorites

Pharmacy Favorites

Recently, I have made quite a few stops in CVS, Walgreens, etc.
I have come across some of the best products that I highly recommend
& a few that I won't go without again!

1. Neutrogena Grapefruit Scented Oil Free Acne Wash-
If you have been following for a while you know of my slight obsession with grapefruit.
I eat at least one a day, if not two. If it is grapefruit. I want it!

2. Vaseline Spray & Go Lotion-
I hate lotion. Applying a sticky goo to my skin is just not something I enjoy doing.
I hate having it on my hands and immediately wash after applying.
I hate it even more if it is heavy or greasy.
This is the perfect product. Light, spray that indefinably hydrates.

3. Nivea Lip Butter in Vanilla & Macadamia-
Love. Love. Love.
So delicious and ultra moisturizing.
Run, don't walk, to get it right now!!

4. Rimmel London Extra Super Lash Mascara-
I go through mascara about like I go through grapefruits. Quick.
When I find one I love I keep going back for more.
This is one that gives long lashes, with no clumps.
And the best part they look au nautrale.

5. Essie Nail Lacquer-
I love having my nails painted. It makes me feel so girly.
And what's even better you can pick to match your outfit.
This one is long lasting and has the most beautiful colors.
And you can't beat the price! Much cheaper than my other fave Butter London.

Hope you enjoy my current pharmacy favorites!
If you like this little segment, I may try to do it once a month or even host a link up.
Let me know!

#chrestfest

This past Thursday I headed up to Gatlinburg, Tennessee to visit my family.
(The hubs had to work..)
My parents rented a cabin. We had such a great time catching up.

Of course no weekend getaway is complete without a little relaxation..

Or shopping.. #duh

On Friday morning we hit up the Tanger Outlet,
where I racked up on some JCrew Factory necessities.
Then Bass Pro & finally ended the day sight seeing, riding the Sky Lift,
& eating pizza as well as birthday cake.
(My brother celebrated his 25th birthday!)

Saturday, we got up early and visited the Ole Smoky Mountain Distillery.
It was so neat to see how moonshine is made!

We ate a little lunch at Crawdaddy's.
The have the best food.
Wish I would have taken a picture of the carrot cake.
#phenomenal

Lobster Bisque
The Chrestman girls rode the Sky Lift again..
A must if you ever go to Gatlinburg!

And then I said goodbye. I hadn't seen Mr. Army Man in a week.
And we needed to catch up!

The views on the way home were absolutely breathtaking.
It was so glad to see the whole fam damily, since I haven't since Christmas!
Love them & our especially making more memories.

Pink Champagne

The versatility of an oxford shirt is endless.
Tucked in, half in/half out, tied..
Anyway it is worn is utterly chic.

It goes without saying that an oxford shirt is a classic staple.
I just love the way the pink and champagne colored shirt
compliment each other.

Shirt: Old H&M (Similar Here)// Skirt (Gifted)
Shoes// Necklaces (Vintage)// Bag
The photo above was just about the only good one the hubs managed to get.
Check out the outtakes below:

Hope y'all have a great week!
Mine will be a short one.
I'll be off to the mountains with the family on Thursday!
I cannot wait, first time to see them since Christmas!

Cut It Out

I've been contemplating changing my hair for quite sometime.
I finally bit the bullet on Thursday.
I was going to get just a trim and go blonder.
But I was being cheap and didn't want to spend the money maintaining my hair.
So here's what I did..

Before:

After:

While I love it being long, summer is coming up and I just want to be cool.
My hair is so thick and heavy. I am loving my hair short.
Now I just need to find some different ways to style it.

What do y'all think?

A Blonde Walked into My Blog

Well hello there, all of Morgan's beautiful followers!!
I am Julia rose and I blog over at A Blonde Walked into a Blog!!

When this gem of a blogger asked me to guest post all I could think was...
Well, DUHHH!!!
She's pretty amazing. Not gonna lie.
One of my favies, fo shizzle.

I'm all about filling people in on important issues of the world.
Ya know, for everyone's safety and well being of course.
So today I'm going to let you all in on some secrets that have changed my life.
I hope they do yours as well...

Marco polo did not invent the swimming pool.
I don't know who did and I don't know why we play that ridiculous game while we're swimming... But marco polo is not who we give credit to.

You will not grow a watermelon in your belly if you eat the seeds.
The show "rugrats" gave me nightmares about this as a kid.

If someone ever tells you that the only candy corn ever made was back in 1911 and that's why we never see it advertised on television today- They are lying. Otherwise we would all be very sick from 100 year old candy corn... Right?

You cannot get pregnant from kissing. and you will not die if you have sex. I
f you didn't know this by now you might be 12 and you should not be looking at blogs.

Your eyes will not pop out if you hold them open while you sneeze. I can't say that I have ever tried it but we're just going with the fact that it would suck if they did.

I was never meant to be a brunette.
I have the pictures to prove it.

Stop lights are ran by a machine.
They are actually NOT little green, yellow, and red men
inside of stop lights that light up when it is their turn.
I used to get freaked out thinking they were watching us...
And then I'd get pissed when they made us wait too long at a red light.
They're not there though. may you sleep peacefully at night now.

I hope that cleared some things up for you all.
I know that i now have a better understanding of the ways of the world.
come say hi!
You know you want to!!

xoxo,
Julia Rose.

The Easter Two

This past weekend was huge for me.

***
Mr. Army Man got some time off from work.
We got our income tax money in.
Lent was over. My chip obsession continues.
And today, I can finally shop again.

We started out Good Friday at our favorite local breakfast spot The Landmark Cafe.
It's so good that it only serves breakfast, frequented by locals only.
And is usually so packed you can't walk in the door. Literally.
The two of us both got ham biscuits. #thebest

We, then, headed up to Raleigh for Adventure Landing.
Where we played two rounds of putt-putt, laser tag, and go carts.
Where I got two hole in one's!

We headed to Trader Joe's, where we bought two jars of cookie butter!
And then to the mall. The hubs wanted me to scope out what I would need for Spring.
I managed to leave intact without buying anything. He bought a meat grinder for our stand mixer.
Which we've already made fresh sausage with.

Before heading home, he we stopped by one of my favorite local boutiques.
Mr. Army Man wouldn't let me go in. #easterbasketnecessities

We then went to dinner at our favorite Mexican restaurant.
I only managed to take a few pictures. Who cares I was enjoying the day.

Saturday was busy with errands.
Trip to Lowe's, grocery shopping, yard work, planting spring flowers, etc.

Sunday, we enjoyed an amazing early Easter breakfast with our church family.
The church had a flower cross ceremony and plus our regular church service.
It was so beautiful.

We headed home where I proceeded to nap and Mr. Army Man crossed watching basketball off his to do list. And later we made dinner.

Mr. Army Man completely surprised me with two amazing Easter presents!

Hope y'all had a Happy Easter Weekend & were bless through and through!
