Red velvet cake mix (make according to directions)
Chocolate chips
Cream Cheese frosting tub
Hazelnut creamer

Make the red velvet cake according to the directions on the box. Add in a generous amount of chocolate chips to the batter. Put in your waffle maker and cook until done.

For the glaze. Mix half of the frosting with about a 1/2 cup or so.. (I didn't measure) Mix until desired consitancy. But waffles on plate and top with glaze. And add extra chocolate chips or chocolate sprinkles if desired. You could also top with blue berries or sliced strawberries. Hope you try and enjoy!!

Ellie's Half Birthday!

A friend of mine and awesome aunt has decided to give her cute little niece Ellie a Breakfast at Tiffany's Half birthday! She will be five and a half. How stinkin' cute! Here's some ideas I have more suitable for a little girl. :)

The outfit:

The food:
Breakfast of course!
Complete with bacon, eggs, biscuits or cereal or whatever you prefer..
I'd go with savory, and leave cupcakes for the sweets!

Cupcakes or donuts:

Party favors:
Cereal

Cracker Jacks

OR
A little blue box..
I filled jewelry boxes from the dollar tree with a pearl bracelet found at Claire's and blue donut germ-x from Bath and Body Works. And then wrapped it in Tiffany Blue Paper found at Party City and tied a little white bow around.
(So you get a little Breakfast and Tiffany's)

Presents:
A cat!
Haha.. Jk

Easy decorations:
White tulle
Diamond beads
Strands of pearls

Activities/games:
Dress up
(Get cute cheap dress up clothes at thrift stores or pull some old items like prom dresses your not going to wear again from your own closet)

Hope Ellie has a great half birthday and Aunt Wesley gets lots of sugs! Now I just wish I could come!;)

Steak Pizza

You'll need:
1 pizza crust
1/4 cup of tomato sauce
sprinkle of red pepper flakes
sprinkle of Italian seasoning
sprinkle of powdered Parmesan cheese
1 minute steak, cooked then sliced
4 cloves minced garlic
basil
mozzarella cheese

Preheat to 400 degrees. Smooth out canned pizza crust and bake until lightly brown. Take out and add tomato sauce, red pepper flakes, Italian seasoning, Parmesan cheese, and half the garlic. Place steak on top, then cover with cheese. Bake until bubbly. Take out and top with remaining garlic and shredded basil.

These are items I had on hand, you can totally change whatever you want. Even use a alfredo sauce instead of the tomato would be great! Hope everyone trys and enjoys!! I didn't take pictures because it was gone in a matter of seconds!

Army Wives

I've been a huge fan of Army Wives since it first came out. Since it hasn't been airing I've been watching the back episodes to get my fix. I saw a quiz Facebook to see who your Army Wife Hubby is.. I totally wanted Frank, but with the answers I chose I got Chase Moran.

Date Night

Friday, Mr. Army Man was off work.. He had several important meetings (not work related) that he had to tend to.. But that wasn't the reason he was off.. We hadn't planned on having a night out but it turned in to a lot of fun..

Earlier in the evening.. We had a bit of a row. Lol! We had been talking about ordering some food from our favorite little Mexican place, San Felipe.. But I was mad and decided to go workout, it was a great one. Thirty minutes of intense cardio.. Doesn't sound like much but I was beat. I've been waking up every morning at 3:00 am because I just starting the lab/cooking portion of my degree at the Art Institute of Raleigh-Durham..

Anywaysss.... I came home and the hubby has been talking about pumpkins ALL week.. And how he wanted to paint and carve some soon. He found the perfect place to get them. And by the way they were super cheap! So we went and got some. For those of you readers that are from the Arkansas area.. It was kinda like the little road side stores at Lehi. They also had a BBQ/Burger place next door. The store was actually featured for their chow chow in the North Carolina State magazine. Pretty awesome. I had bought a jar about a month ago. AMAZING!! (I got to meet the guy who was behind the whole thing, pretty great when your a culinary freak like I am!!!) We wanted to go there but as we were checking out with our pumpkins, okra, and garlic, they had closed. Bummer..

So for all you North Carolinian's, we were going to go to the cookout.. So good and also SO CHEAP! But decided to go to this place called the Checkered Flag.. It is a true blue diner/truck stop. OH MY GOODNESS! It was absolutely amazing. Mr. Army Man and I ate for under $12, plus dessert. The bread pudding was $1, and tasted as if it came from heaven. (And I'm not even a bread pudding fan.) It is definitely one of those great places you can go to at anytime and enjoy a smile and a good cup of coffee.. There were these cute little old men just chillin' drinking coffee. When their cup ran out they'd go behind the counter and refill it.. Definitely a Luke's in Gilmore Girls. I found my usual table. I cannot wait to go back!

I know my story is wayyyyyy long. But here is our cute little pumpkins we designed.

Mine is the one with a tutu.. (It was supposed to have lips but I messed up).. Lol. The one on right is Mr. Army Man's.

Have a great week!!

Pumpkin Cupcakes

Pumpkin cake:
You'll need:
1 small can of pumpkin puree
1 box of yellow cake mix

Mix these two ingredients together and bake at 350 degrees. And that's it! I did mine in cute orange & white polka dot muffin cups but you could make as a cake, bunt, or whatever you prefer..

Icing is my own interpretation:
You'll need:
1 pkg. cream cheese
powdered sugar
hazelnut coffee creamer
1 tbsp. each of cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice

Mix together with mixer until it is the consistancy you are looking for. Mine was like a glace. But I'm sure if you add more powdered sugar it will firm up.

Hope you try this simple recipe out, it is delicious! Mr. Army Man has already had 3! I sure hope he doesn't get sick! I'm so excited the weather is getting nicer. And fall is all around us! Happy Fall Y'all!
